Our Story

In 2005, two buddies got beat badly at a tailgate cook-off in Bel Air, Maryland. The next year, their very first turn-in box, chicken, took 1st place out of 55 teams. Two decades and 850+ top-ten calls later, the secret hasn't changed: the rubs Dan built.

So why “3 Eyz”?

When Dan Hixon and Jason McNew started the team, they figured they had about three good eyes between them. Take a closer look at the pig wearing the eyepatch.

Today Dan runs the show: Pitmaster, President, and the guy shipping rub all over the world. By day he's a licensed real estate agent. The rest of the time he's teaching folks to BBQ and scratching that competition itch.

Grand Champs, Laurel MD

Wins the Sam's Club Regional and a ticket to the $100K National Championship.

33 contests, 11 Grand Championships, and the national title.

Hung up the tongs

Retired from the circuit in August with one of the best records in the game.
